Canon has been slow to add 4K video recording on its lower end camera line-ups but finally things are changing. With the new PowerShot G7 X Mark III we are getting 4K at 29.97 frames per second with a video bit rate of up to 120 megabytes per second! Now for those of you that might not understand what that number represents, basically the higher that number the more information and detail the camera is able to record when filming video, the trade off being that your video file sizes will be larger. Another surprise, at least for me, was the inclusion of Full HD recording at 120 frames per second, meaning get ready to have high quality slow motion videos with this camera. We are also getting optical image stabilization so using this handheld for vlogging should look pretty smooth.
This camera is equipped with a 20.1 Megapixel 1 inch stacked CMOS sensor and is also rocking Canon's latest DIGIC 8 Image Processor which all equates to some very nice images and videos. We also have the ability to shoot vertical video, this is for all your Instagram influencers out there, and even live stream directly to YouTube. On top of having a 3 inch flip up screen touch screen to position your selfies perfectly we also have a mic input.
All in all this camera seems like a very powerful starter camera for creating YouTube or Instagram content. Now we truly don't know how this camera will hold up until it is released but I am hoping for the best because I feel like this is where Canon needed to improve. They are definitely listening to the community so I am excited for what else they have up their sleeves.
If you are considering getting this camera let me know down below in the comments and Canon if you want to send out a test unit by all means I would love to get my hands on one when its available!
