Best Buy Ends Free Rewards Program and Introduces Exclusive Credit Card Benefits

Best Buy recently announced two significant changes to its rewards program. The first change is that starting now, as a My Best Buy member, you'll get free shipping on all BestBuy.com orders with no minimum purchase required. This change greatly benefits customers who frequently make small purchases on the website.

The second change is that starting February 14, 2023, earning points on eligible Best Buy purchases will become an exclusive benefit of the My Best Buy® Credit Card. To continue earning rewards on your Best Buy purchases, you can apply for the My Best Buy® Credit Card and earn 10% back in rewards on your first day of purchases. Plus, for a limited time, you can earn a $100 reward certificate when you apply, are approved for, and spend $100 on your new My Best Buy® Credit Card at Best Buy. Activation required. The offer ends on February 13, 2023.

As a My Best Buy member, you will also have access to exclusive member offers, order tracking, and your saved purchase history. The new reward program is an exclusive benefit for credit card holders, and customers need to evaluate their spending habits and preferences to decide whether this change will benefit them.

This change may not be beneficial for those who are not interested in having a credit card and prefer to earn rewards through other means. However, those willing to apply for the My Best Buy® Credit Card and make purchases with it may earn more rewards and access more exclusive offers.

Some customers have expressed disappointment with the change to the rewards program because it limits the ability to earn rewards for those with a Best Buy credit card. This can be seen as unfair to those who do not have a credit card or choose not to use one. Additionally, some customers feel that this change is a way for Best Buy to push customers into getting a credit card, which could lead to more debt.
